History Illustrations: Medieval Gower Stories

Gower stories from all over

The illustrations for Medieval Gower Stories were mostly reused from other books, and photographs, but the map I had drawn was brand new, and amazing. How do you draw a map to cover such a wide area? Steve Jones did it. Like this:

Map for Medieval Gower Stories

The book is about stories related to Gower, but sometimes the link is very tenuous! The stories stretch from 1136 to 1326, and from Kidwelly in west Wales to the Tower of London. Each story is something that fascinates me, so I thought it would interest others, but not long enough for whole book. Hence I put them together, so I could share them with everyone, and called it Medieval Gower Stories – what else?

Next month I will be posting a roundup of the history illustrations posts, so you will be able to follow each book. Look out for it.
