If you follow me for my science fiction, you must like Star Trek, because the Kestrel was birthed out of ideas for Star Trek stories. Didn’t know that? Where have you been?
I found an
article online with all sorts of news about Star Trek spinoffs.
Discovery season 4 has started shooting, which surprised me as season 3 ended the story arc. It will be interesting to see where they go with it next.
When the starship Discovery shot off into the future they left the Enterprise behind. The latest spin-off series, Strange New Worlds, will follow the adventures of Captain Christopher Pike (Anson Mount), Mr. Spock (Ethan Peck) and Number One (Rebecca Romijn) on the USS Enterprise and is set, in essence, as a prequel to “The Original Series” before James T. Kirk took command of the Constitution-class starship.
The second series of Picard has also gone into production at last. I can’t wait to see what they do with the new Jean Luc (I won’t say more – spoilers).
Kalinda Vazquez has been appointed by Paramount Pictures to write a new Star Trek movie, with JJ Abrams’ Bad Robot producing, but when or if it comes to fruition remains to be seen after other failed attempts.
There is also mention of season 2 of Prodigy with Kate Mulgrew and Lower Decks, both of which I’ve not heard of. Where have I been?
So I looked them up.
Star Trek: Prodigy is an upcoming American animated television series created by Kevin and Dan Hageman for the streaming service Paramount+ and the cable channel Nickelodeon.
Ann Marie Thomas is the author of four medieval history books, a surprisingly cheerful poetry collection about her 2010 stroke, and the science fiction series Flight of the Kestrel. Book one, Intruders, and book two Alien Secrets, are out now. Follow her at http://eepurl.com/bbOsyz
